What you need to know about Google Ads Grants for associations

  • Google Ad Grants is a marketing budget allocated free of charge by Google to associations that meet certain conditions.

  • This budget can only be used to advertise on the Google search engine in the form of text ads (Google Ads Search) based on keywords relevant to the association.

  • The budget can go up to $10,000/month.

  • There’s no difference between commercial ads and Ad Grants.

  • These ads can be used to reach your audience, attract more volunteers, get more donations, recruit new members and, of course, drive qualified traffic to your website.

  • The Google Ad Grants program is restricted to Search campaigns only, which means that you need to open a commercial advertising account if you want to run video advertising on YouTube or Display (banner ads).

  • The program has a few additional search limitations: the manual bidding strategy is limited to $2 CPC, and commercial ads will always be presented above Ad Grants ads.

  • To get the most out of the program, it’s important to optimize your website (SEO) and avoid having any pages under construction or 404s.

  • The local partner for registration is SOCIALware, which will validate an association if it is an ASBL or a public utility foundation.

  • Its important to maintain at least one active campaign in the account, with at least 2 ad groups and links to a website, otherwise the account may be deactivated.
